If you love the other “Construction Site” books, you’ll love this one, too. The story walks through each of the favorite vehicles as they build a new fire station, emphasizing their tireless dedication to finish the task (which is a great lesson). Along the way, each vehicle receives a gift, such as the bulldozer getting a new carbon steel blade. Each vehicle has four pages of text, with the final line wishing the vehicle a Merry Christmas: “Merry Christmas, Excavator. Goodnight.” Each spread has anywhere from one to three sentences. The illustrations are absolutely gorgeous, with beautiful snowy scenes and plenty of small details. The rhyme scheme is great and flows nicely, and the story line is fantastic as well. It’s the perfect Christmas story, especially for the nights leading up to (and the night before) Christmas, as there are references to Christmas Eve several times. Overall, I can’t wait to introduce this book to my kids!
